It was originally built in 1859 as Niagara Public School, the first local public school to be built after the War of 1812. Local historian, author, and co-founder of The Niagara Historical Society, Janet Carnochan, was one of the school's first principals. This heritage building situated in the National Historic District of Old Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is now School House Country Inn c1859. Each of the Four Corner Suites on the second floor has its own sitting room with 17-foot ceilings, a fireplace, and an ensuite bathroom Our spacious main floor room features a sitting area with a fireplace and an ensuite bathroom.
